I came across thi while reading the local paper and as we all know, when you buy an iPhone, you also need to sign up with AT&T's internet services. A guy named George Hotz or simply known on his blog(http://iphonejtag.blogspot.com/) "Geohot" has cracked the phone and actually used a T-Mobile SIM Card on it!

Anyways, you can check out his blog and see the steps on how to hack an iPhone here:

Good Luck on hacking you iPhone!

Currently about a half-dozen companies/groups have claimed capabilities to unlock the iPhone. From what I understand, there are about 4 different ways to go about it ranging from:

Hardward Unlock (soldering)
Fake/Hacked SIM card
Software Unlock (The most ideal method)
Combo. Hard/Soft ware unlock.

The method posted on the site you linked, looks like a combo unlock. It's very dangerous messing with the hardware in your phone. Not only instantly voiding your warrenty, you also risk shocking yourself via the battery terminals inside.

Yea it sucks for non-US residents at the moment... it's not available here too :(

@Derek: If I am not mistaken, I think Verizon uses a different technology for their network... I don't think they use SIM Cards...

I will not find it surprising to buy a SGD 1000 forthis iphone in Singapore, since many Apple Fans are all growing money in their bank for this type of phones.

I love to have it but no $$$ and it very expensive for such a phone, I mean I have to asked myself , do I need all the function in there ?, do I use most of the function in my handphone? How much more additional cost do I need to spend on programs I need in that phone? If none of these function I need, basically I will just wait till I really need a super smart phone but it doesn't since to come.

There's no point buying a phone that is so expensive and yet for show. The function in there the chances of me using will be very slim also.
