I was looking at purchasing a new iPod recently (my 3 yr. old ipod photo give me the sad ipod face everytime I try and update it, I think its about time to upgrade). I have two options.
A. The ipod touch
B. The ipod classic

Im leaning toward the ipod touch becuase even thought it doesn't have as much storage, it does have a lot of other nice features and I can take off some of the podcasts/audiobooks that are cluddering up my iPod currently so that I could live with the touch. Also It seems to be faster than the classic and can handle cover flow better.

The only upside to the classic would be the battery life and the storage. My friend has this crazy idea that the ipod touch will be able to just bend in half... I think hes wrong is he?
Anyway, which do you think I should go with?

the touch is really nice looking, i love it for that, the touch screen is awesome, and the functionallity is just amazing, on the other hand if youre not looking for something flashy, go for the classic, it is superior in terms of battery/storage

You can say the touch is the Iphone without the phone. It looks real good, am looking forward to buying it.

thats what I thought.... Do you think theres an issue of the touch physically snapping in half due to its slimness (I know it sounds silly but I just gotta take everythign into perspective before I make a 400 dollar purchase)?

It's probably not a good time to invest in either. The iPod touch is first generation, and while beautiful, it's bound to get upgraded pretty soon. And the classic is now feeling some heat from the zune, so it may see some features in the near future. That said, the Touch offers some silly nice features that would be nice even after you upgrade to something else. (Safari/wifi, calender, great photo viewer.)

I would go with the Ipod touch although i would be worried about damaging the screen but i guess that can easily be protected by a thin film bought seperately. I may get one in the future but sadly i have no money lol :rant2:

I agree with Pnewhook, the iPod Touch is 1st gen, and 1st genaration is never one to trust IMO, but why limit yourself to an iPod? i belive someone mentioned the Zune which seems like a nice little player, and from what i have read it seems to hold up well

LOL.

The touch won't snap in half in your pocket!

I was deciding over what to get and ended up deciding to get an iPhone!

I have played around with the Touch and it is thin and beautiful but it most definetly will not snap in half in your pocket. I know some quite big people who l eave it in there back pocket (maybe not the best place!), but it is made strong enough not to snap in two!

It just depends on the space or functionality. Which one do you require more?

I think the touch would be better simply because it has much more functionality and frannkly, 8GB or 16GB should be enough for most people. The web browser on it and the cover flow is just amazing.

Go on, go for the Touch. It is the superior model and it really is a pleasure to use. The multi-touch screen is like heaven!
