Coca Cola
Is coke the real thing? You bet it is, according to millions of people around the world. It is not an imitation like RC Cola or Pepsi. It has a great original taste that can’t be beaten.
Some people might ask how coke came to be and who invented it. Well, Coca-Cola was invented by Dr. John Pemberton in 1886. At the time Coca leaves and kola nut were the main ingredients. It was originally marketed as a brain and nerve tonic in drugstores. But it turned out it didn’t work to well. Not knowing what to do with it, it was then sold as a soft drink. But, Pamberton was in bad health because he was a morphine addict and therefore couldn’t do much with his formula.
So in 1887 he began selling parts of the company to different people. During that period, Joseph Jacobs, who owned a pharmacy purchased shares of Coca-cola. Pemberton also had an advertisement looking for more investors in his company. The ad was as follows: “WANTED: An acceptable party with $2000.00 to purchase one-half interest in a very profitable and well-established manufacturing business, absolutely no risk, and guaranteed a 50 per cent profit on investment, with possibilities of much large profits and rare opportunity to right party.” People responded to the ad and he collected $2000 from them. Their names were J.C. Mayfield, A.O. Murphey and E.H. Bloodworth. In December 1887 the three new partners moved to Atlanta to produce the drink we call today Coca-Cola.
Coca Cola is now the largest soft drink company in the world!
Here are some interesting facts for you. When Coke first started they sold 9 drinks a day because it wasn’t sold in very many places. Now they sell over 8,000,000 a day around the world. When Coca Cola first sold drinks they were 5 cents a bottle now it’s over a dollar!
When Coca Cola first started it was only sold in the United States. The first 2 countries to sell Coca Cola outside the states were Cuba and Panama. Today Coca-Cola is sold in more than 80 countries, and often some countries have drinks which are made by Coca-Cola but suited to that countries taste.
Coca-Cola classic in the United States is consumed more then bottled water, juices, powdered drinks, and wine. Listen to this, if the Coca-Cola Company constructed a sign like the ones McDonald's uses to count their millions of customers, by 1983 it would have said "over 1 trillion served."
A lot of people say coke has so much sugar. But did you know that Coca-Cola contains the same amount of sugar as you would find in fresh orange juice. There are about 35 grams in a 330ml can of Coca-Cola.
So why drink Coca Cola and not a drink Pepsi, RC Cola, and other imitation drinks?
Well, because coca cola has that great, sweet, original taste that’s the best of all of them!
What do you think now after you know all these facts?
