Hey guys,

I was wondering if it is possible to password protect the whole of your public_html folder.

That way it stops people from accessing the website, while you update it.

I was wondering if this is possible?

Help much appreciated!

I don't see why not. Open CPanel and select Password Protect Directories.

Then click / when the page loads, it will ask you for the name to be displayed when it asks for the password, and then will let you add username/password combinations.

but then we can't check to see if he has ads on the site meaning he might get suspended.

Just put up a temp index page saying i am redesigning the site. and have that page contain the ads. then upload everything but that page.

or if you are doing it in php make index.html but have the index.php page up there. people will see the index.html and not the index.php page
