Is the credits system still in use?

I was reading about it on the wiki and it seems that it's been undergoing maintenance since June 2010. It would be nice to have that section updated if it's not available anymore.

No. It couldn't survive the transition from vBulletin (the old forum software) to Xenforo (the current software). It really was sort of useless before it died since most of the hosting benefits you could buy just became part of the Free Hosting service by default; its only possible use was as tokens of exchange in the Classified Ads section (where real money transactions were prohibited), except that updating vBulletin (security updates mostly) broke the system every single time so that there was almost never a way to transfer credits -- and since there was nothing else you could do with the credits unless you had many, many thousands of them, a handful of worthless tokens wasn't much of an incentive to do the work being requested in an ad.

It was disabled on vBulletin long before the transfer anyway, as the credits system was very poorly coded and was the sole cause of the forums loading slowly and eating up tons of server resources (cpu, mainly).

We may bring it back in the future in some incarnation, we may not. Nothing has really been discussed regarding this yet.
