It's been like this for a year now, and has changed twice as far as I know. But on the plus side, I've been upgraded from 4mbps to 10mbps free :D

Started as hitting 1GB between 4pm and midnight meant it was slowed down to 2mbps (half...) for 4 hours, then it would go back to normal. Then they reduced from 1GB to 700MB, and now (for me) it's 800MB between 4pm and 9pm, and a reduction to 1mbps. As for their 3% of users comment, sounds like crap to me, tbh.

Ah, so that's why when I was downloading a large adobe program the other evening my internet connection slowed right down! I'll make sure I do it in the mornings in future!

I think you need to visit DSL Reports. That site has had info on this for a year now, and they even cracked rumors of ISPs like Comcast capping and throttling your service and everything, but I've known about this.

Also, did the entire connection slow down or were you running torrents and it slowed down? There are loads of factors away from throttling that can cause that to happen, not to mention uploading will seriously kill the download.

I got a film recently and it was quicker than usual - took a couple of hours when usually I've had to wait for half a day! It does depend on the seeds etc, but I was surprised that my service wasn't totally crippled...
