I wanted to uninstall joomla and thought it would just be best to delete everything in public_html.. and now it wont let me delete certain files and it wont let me reinstall joomla or install drupal until these files are deleted but they wont delete?

You should be able to delete the files now, it was a permissions problem (files and folders had the wrong permissions set).

Just don't delete the entire folder public_html, just its content.

As long as you do not delete the public_html folder itself, or any other folder outside of that folder (in other words, leave all folders located under /home/your_cpanel_user intact), it'll be all fine.

If you install a script using softaculous or fantastico, it is recommended to also use their respective uninstall options, that should clear out the files/folders created during installation of the script.

ok.. so I managed to delete everything required and install drupla, then found myself a template to install and tried to locate the folder to install it and i see nothing in public_html zero files. I'm sat there thinking how can i have a working version of drupla and be able to post content when there isnt a single file in public_html.. so i uninstall just to see if im going mad and it appears there are folders there? i dont have permisions to see or delete anything in public_html? bit confused here.. please help obv i need those permissions or i cant really build a website, lol. I'm probably being totally stupid, but I just see nothing in public_html.

i cannot see any file in public_html at all and therefore cannot edit anything.

Also even thought drupal is now reinstalled it serves out an internal 500 error just trying to view the homepage..

i came on here to seek further help and the verify post thing couldnt of said it better check it out

Your Drupal now works without giving any errors on the main page.

Are you able to see the files now as well?

Glad it all works now.

Personally, I always recommend installing scripts manually and not through Fantastico or Softaculous (they tend to leave a few traces behind if you only remove the files and not uninstall them using the same service).

Internal 500 error often comes as a result of having wrong file/folder permissions set, and those would likely also have been the reason for you not seeing the files. Why they were set as they were, that's another mystery though.

lol Anna, same problem again.

File permissions? 550 /public_html/themes/pushbutton: No such file or directory

This time I see it all these files and folders but when i try and delete i just spits out the above error. I removed drupal through the fantasico scrip i used to install in.

About to give up :(
