Kaspersky Antivirus

I am using Kaspersky Antivirus Personal and it is making my computer considerably slow. What should I do??

Install a different anti-virus.

I use AVG, but I've heard that avira antivir is good as well.

If you can afford to upgrade your computer memory you can do so. But if you can't try moving to a different anti-virus. Before i use AVG but slows up my computer, but moved to Nod 32 Eset Smart Security and i like it more, it uses less computer resource.

Off-Topic Just for a min: To be honest, I know quite a bit about computers. I can help alot.

On Topic: Don't get AVG. It's a rubbish Anti-Virus. When I first installed, it said it detected 50 Trojans, and I didn't even have any malicious virus, software on my computer. It was very strange.

For better performance, read my Tutorial I made for increasing computer performance.

Tutorial:

Right click on "My Computer" Go to Properties now you will see you've entered System properties. Go to Advanced tab, click Settings in the Performance section I use "Adjust for best performance".

I recommend you click on "Use visual styles on windows and buttons" to get the Windows XP or Vista or what ever style skin to not be changed.

AVG works just fine for me.. seems the least memory-using of all antivirus programs I've used. I've got a 2.33 GHz 4 MB L2 Core2Duo, 2 GB RAM, and Windows XP SP2 boots in 25 seconds

kapersky is really heavy to the Pc , but avg is good , or NOD32 is more light

Kaspersky is a very good piece opf software, but if it is slowing your computer down, consider upgrading it. If you don't feel like it or you can't upgrade it, you should consider moving to AVG or Antivir when the subscription expires on Kasperksy. Antivir I hear is better at finding things than AVG is, but I don't know performance wise on the two programs. AVG isn't too demanding, as even my slowest computers don't slow down too much with AVG's real-time. The thing that will use up resources for a few minutes is the updater after it downloads the update, but it fiunishes quickly and then you're all set to go. Also, AVG has usually daily updates, which is a good thing.

Antivir is a good program for weak systems but IMHO Kaspersky is the best, worth paying for, and worth an upgrade.

Kaspersky is the best in my opinion. I have two reasons why your computer is considerably slow.
• You have too little RAM in your computer. Buy 2GB of memory and see if that helps.
• You have other antimalware software. Uninstall your additional antimalware software.

If none of the above helps, you should consider getting a different antimalware program. Here are some ideas:
• ESET NOD32 -- Fastest
• F-Secure -- High detection rate
• avast! antivirus -- General protection, very cheap or FREE!
• BitDefender -- High detection rate, but may be slow
• eSafe -- Highest suspicious detection rate
• AVG -- I personally hate AVG, but you may not

Im using ESET Smart Security and got no problems with it. It always detects whether my PC is infected with virus because of ThreatSense Technology. I am an AVG Lover before but when i tried ESET i like it more than AVG.

Kaspersky is good.Me personally use it.
Yes, any antivirus progrm wil slow down your computer a bit. It's not so much the memory usage that slows down a computer as it is the background virus scanning that is done on every file that is accessed. Norton anti-virus is the worst for bogging down a system. Kaspersky isn't bad

In your case it sounds like adding more ram, or cleaning up your windows installation would have more of an performance impact than changing your anti-virus program.
