:riaa: Kerala, the God’s Own Country, is noted for the unity between different communities. A Kerala Travel will be more enjoyable, if the famous festivals and fairs are included in the tour list. Festivals and fairs here are celebrated by almost all communities alike. The trade contacts of Kerala with foreign countries brought in different cultures. Intermingling of these cultures with that of Kerala came out with a typical nature. Kerala society is famous for its tolerance and secularism. Festivals of different communities are celebrated with a lot of fan fare.
In Kerala, festivities continue through out the year, so the land is mentioned as the land of celebrations. Onam, the national festival of Kerala, is the annual harvest festival that carries the myth of the legendary King Mahabali’s state visit. The festival, in the Malayalam month Chingam, includes water carnivals, elephant processions, classical and folk dance performances. The Maramon convention, considered as the largest gathering of Christians in Asia, takes place on the banks of Pamba on February. As a part of Aranmula temple festival, the Aranmula boat race is held at the scenic village of Aranmula during August/ September. Attachamayam at the historical town Tripunithura will be held on the Atham day of Chingam. It is the clebration of a legendary victory of the Raja of Kochi.
The Kerala festivals and fairs are a lot in number. The specialty of these festivals is that they are the inherent property of Keralites. Even though the same is celebrated in different states, Keralites add extra flavor to their festivals and make them matchless. :facesjump
