In my honest opinion, desktop is best for gaming. It's easy to upgrade in software, you can have multiple hard drives with different OS's, a top-of-the-line pc is very powerful (I don't know if laptops have finally catched up in terms of raw power), we aren't restricted in what hardware we can use (some lap tops have only USB ports so no PS/2 keyboards and mouses :( ), you can have multiple monitors (I don't know if laptops can do this too), etc.

Laptops, however, are probably best for web/software development if you travel a lot. Personally, I would love to have a good laptop with my Linux installation to do web/software development, that way I can sit in the living during the evenings with my family (and it will help not missing Corner Gas episodes :D ).

I use my desktop most of the time. My laptop is over a decade old and has an old Pentium 2 processor @233MHz with only 64MB of RAM.

My desktop on the other hand is very modern, only a year old, has a decent processor and 4GB RAM.

Even when I use my laptop, I just use it as to connect to the X server on my desktop.

I have one laptop and 4 desktops here, along with another laptop in which is a company laptop, so that's 6 computers. I use a desktop a lot being a gamer that I am, having built my own system. Laptops are great if you want mobility, but to get one that's decent for gaming can cost a bit more. Plus, the only thing you can really upgrade on a laptop is the RAM and the hard drive, unlike a PC where you can upgrade pretty much anything. But laptop for mobility and productivity, PC for pernament solutions, gaming, and high end productivity (videos, CAD, etc).

Why so many computers?

I exclusively use my Macbook pro for everything I do! I am an active gamer even on it with World of Warcraft! I love my Mac, it's the ONLY way to go. If you can afford one, get it... you won't ever go back. I have different OS's loaded onto my machine for all sorts of debugging and troubleshooting. As far as I know it's the best solution for web design, programming, etc. I am truly multi-platform!!!

Yeah. Macbook Pro

Which do you have?

Which do you use most?

I have a laptop

I use a laptop the most, though I'm on my old desktop that I gave to my little brother right now because my dad is working with my laptop to make it better and faster.

Desktops, because for anything but mobility they are far superior and cheaper, and I don't need to move around a lot.
