so for xmas my dad wants to get my mom a laptop (which i disagree with since desktops will always own), and the max amount he'll spend is $1500.

so...

of all brands, which laptops are the best?
ive heard hp and acer are among the worst..

also, which processor is the best?
my friends tell me P4's heat up way too much and guzzle battery life, and that celeron M's just suck.

I like the toshiba's and Dell's (I own a dell) They are both great companies. I heard acer wasnt all that bad either...

Definately the Pentium M or Centrino are the best processors for laptops

The p4 does heat up alot though but this really shouldnt be an issue as this is the way it was built.

You should get a Sony, Dell, or Toshiba. And ONLY get Intel Centrino. They are one of the best to get for a laptop. Sony's are the best rated also.

I don't have a laptop but I have borrowed my uncle's Dell laptop for a week or so and I had to complaints about it. It was a few years ago, and I'm sure the newer ones can only be better.

Lol, just don't buy a laptop? Spend that $1500 on a comp or towards improving your current one? If that's not the way you can roll, then Toshiba is the best way ou can go.

I never said to buy a pre-built comp. with that money. So basically you're repeating what I said. :eek:wned:

with the price of a laptop you could get the best darn desktop in the world

the laptop wont be used for gaming, it will be mostly used for word processing, etc

Listen to me.

I know people will ridicule me for saying this.

Get a PowerBook from Macintosh. It won't be a mistake.

The Mac computer line has been vastly improved over the last several years.

Their OS is uncrashable! My Windows 98 crashes every freakin day!!!! I even have Norton Antivirus and SBC Yahoo Anti-Spy. NOTHING HELPS! On a Mac, you don't need anything. As long as you don't download the specific viruses intentially, your Mac'll hold up to anything. Screw Windows! If you think Windows is a better choice for a gaming PC, the more power to you. Have fun with your $1500 gaming console...
