Its good for work I suppose, but there's always a noticeable delay(bleeding) when you're playing high FPS games. For the average user its easier on the eyes though.

Though it is a bit costly, I would opt for it. I have a TFT Monitor myself. The advantage is that it uses less power and reduced glare. Though as Slothie said it leaves a trailer effect.

It depends on how you use the computer. If you are more into reading, or doing works that consist mainly of text then LCD is the best for you since one disadvantage of CRT is its refresh rate which sometime causes headache to some users. If you are more into graphic like gaming or photo editing then CRT is the best for you.

Gaming = CRT, LCD = everything else. I personally stick with CRTs, as with LCDs you still have to worry about dead pixels, etc (this is becoming a lesser occurrence but still inevitably happens)

LCD always, except for games or graphic design, but I never play games on my computer.

I like to use LCD for a lot of things. The CRT monitors aren't as clear (plus the flickering from the refresh rate irritates me), but most LCDs use less power, and I find them good for gaming. So LCD is good. Yeah, there may be a dead pixel or two, but I have a 9 year old Dell Inspiron 3800 laptop that is still used every day when I'm away from the gaming comp for web browsing, and the screen on it has no dead pixels/mis coordinated pixels.

With current scenario LCD is best. However whenever you but something you have to consider best available in market at that time. But later on do not consider what decision you take because then it goes in regret mode since there will always something else as latest.

So good luck and go ahead.

For day to day use I have an LCD. For graphics work and hardcore gaming I use a CRT. CRTs are better at reproducing the color spectrum and have better brightness and contrast ratios.

Like anything else it really does come down to personal preference.

My preference is a CRT, though I just received an LCD, and am learning to like the clarity.

if I may give you some advice, Check for the SAMSUNG syncMaster 204B

It has an awesome refresh ratio (5ms)
no ghosting
only uses a minimal amount of power
has 1600-1200 resolution on a 21 inch screen (thats much higher pixelcount per cubic centimeter than your average LCD)
and its really not expensive (compared to all the other lcd's with specs similiar to it.
It was kinda hard to get my hands on due to stock limits here in the netherlands at the time, but its the best LCD monitor I've ever had.

I prefer LCD over plasma, i have had experience with both and plasma has this really annoying reflection in the daytime whereas LCD looks completely fine. Are you going for a high definition TV?

unless you are an "uber extreme" gamer, you will not notice any deficiency in LCD monitors. almost all hard core gamers i know use LCD because they are much better in other aspects.
go for an LCD... unless you are low on cash

LCD.

On a CRT set at anything less than 75Hz, my eyes just die from the flickering!

Plus LCDs are much thiner and lighter.
