Live video / webcam on x10hosting server

Hello All

Is it possible to setup live video through web pages using a webcam
and IPORT address on x10hosting? Anyone have some experience?

I've created a couple of HTML pages with different MediaPlayer objects
embedded, set to pull (?) the data from a source which is specified by
IPort. Is that IPORT the broadcast machine's address or the servers?

So far all they do is look for the IPORT address. Not working yet... I expect
that there may be procedures to get the live stream (pushed?) to the
server so that the visitor can "pull" it from there... maybe???

OK. Tell me how... Any tips, tricks or comments are appreciated. Thank you.

its possible but not on x10, this is because of the massive bandwidth consumption of it. You can stream a media from your server but not a live feed, because of the requirements of the system. The administrators would have to run a program and it would consume just too much bandwidth...

There are programs to do this but they usually cost alot of money and it would need to quiet supporting server to do it for you to do it...

Well you can probably do this but not on any shared hosting. Maybe a Mid to high end VPS will support you for this OR you can find a free service for that and just embed it to your site but I've never heard of such thing. sorry.

OK. Thanks for all support here. I am learning the ropes;
having come from uncompressed SD broadcast video (PAL)
traditional raid-0 SCSI world, with high hope and knowledge
of next to nothing in this wonderful web-tech world, I am
figuring out what can be done and how to do it.

So... a commercial service offering server based, high bandwidth
distribution is possible... if I'm reading the responses correctly.

You could stream it off your own PC if you like, but no, x10 has no realtime streaming support.

Installing a Streaming Server on your Hosting Account will cause a high load on the server and can be the cause of account suspension.
