Hi, I'm Jay, an American living in the Philippines (Cebu province.) I just signed up for the free hosting service. I was tasked with setting up a website for an animal rescue & welfare organization, Friends for the Protection of Animals, an American 501(c) registered nonprofit. The founder and head is a friend of ours, and is Filipino-American. Another Filipino expat acquaintance of ours, who also lives in the US and is active in the animal welfare & rights movement, donated some money to us to help a dog which my wife rescued a few weeks ago, a puppy that was hit by a car resulting in a fractured pelvis (we're also active in the local animal rescue scene.) This donation had one small string attached: that I create a simple website for Friends.
I chose x10hosting because it had a good rating, and many happy customer's reviews, posted at http://www.free-webhosts.com/. Just now I'm waiting for the hosting account to be activated so I can start building a "rough draft" of their website.
By the way, we have six dogs, three cats and two kittens. Three of the dogs are Dobermans, two of which we raised from puppies and one that's a rescue; two are small, mixed-breed mutts that we adopted from the City Pound, and the last one is an AsPin (Asong Pinoy, the native Philippine dog, related to dingoes, Canaan dogs, Carolina dogs, Indian Pariah dogs, etc.: a very ancient dog breed.) He was shot in the spine when a puppy and is crippled for life, so he either lies on our bed or runs around in a wheelchair. All of our cats and kittens are rescues that either I found on the street as small kittens, or stray outside cats that moved in and have become tamed. One kitten is a foster for the local animal rescue (Island Rescue Organization), and it looks like we may be fostering another one soon: an IRO member found it and has been keeping it for a few days but is gone at work so much that she can't take proper care of it, so she's looking for someone to take over as foster-"parents."
In my Copious Free Time, when I'm not petting, cleaning up after, walking, breaking up fights between, feeding, watering, or administering medicines to this menagerie I create websites for people and organizations (most of them are non-profit charities, so I do it for free for them, but I hope to derive an income from my website work even though that hasn't happened yet.)
