MagpieRSS, cURL no longer working

I used to use MagpieRSS to connect to my blog's RSS feed and display it on my website. This has recently stopped working and it seems I am no longer able to access any websites outside of the domain. I have tried using fopen() and the cURL library also to no avail yet these work perfectly when I test them locally.

Has there been some recent restriction on free accounts that prevents this and is there another method of doing the same thing.

Port 80 outbound has been disabled by the Admins due to abuse by proxies and rapidleech-like scripts.

They are only whitelisting IPs that have a broad base of usage.
