I have a site in php-nuke, and use the mail() function for activate the registers... and happens that if you use in the register any account like gmail, yahoo, etc. it works perfectly, but if you use any hotmail account, the confirmation mail isn´t received. It´s like if the server wouldn´t send mails to hotmail, and isn´t problem of spam filter from hotmail, because I´ve tested my site on my own computer like a server and it works without problems... then, what´s happening with mail function here? can I do something to repair it?

Thanks.

That wouldn't be a server problem, it would be a problem with the Hotmail service -- I'm pretty sure x10's servers to not discriminate webmail providers ;) .

I found the problem, I won't go into detail about what one of our extremely smart users did but it is fixed now. If you *know* what was done and I catch you doing it, you'll be terminated.

Just wondering Corey if whatever was happening was affecting all e-mails sent with the mail() function or just certain mails for this user and hotmail? You don't have to go into any details but I just wanted to know how much was affected by this incident.

could it be that hotmail has blocked the IP of x10hosting's server, coz, i still cant receive emails from it. It doesnt even go in the junk.

The server is still configured with a null hostname (localhost.localdomain) and therefore spam filters at AOL/Hotmail are not able to reverse dns-lookup on the server. Mail is dumped there and then rather than to get to the users.

Corey, change the hostname to server.x10hosting.com (And make sure the required dns entries are there!)
