Necessary Program:
The FilmMachine:
(Download) h**p://www.sendspace.com/file/gev7g3

Extra Program:
Cinema Craft Encoder 2.67.00.27:
(Download) h**p://www.sendspace.com/file/n9s8m1

This extra program: Cinema Craft Encoder 2.67.00.27
Its the one who will give quality to the DVD, does not exist better encoder than CCE.
Best is this version, if not, lots of you will get this error when CCE close.

Click in Open/Add Movie files and go in the folder that have the film we want to convert.

Will appear the info about the avi.

Click in Options, just necessary in the first time that we use The FilmMachine. This way, we will show it the path of CCE, if you want it to be your encoder.
The others are free, not necessary to show'em the path, its pre-defined.

Click in the Paths Tab.

Now lets go where it says Cinema Craft Encoder. Click in the folder and show where it is:
C:\Program Files\Custom Technology\CCE SP Trial Version\cctspt.exe

(or where you installed it lol)

now to the Encoders tab, un-check the "Enable RoBa OPV mode wiht predictable size".
This way we can change anything in Options.

In Options, lets choose how many passes we want CSS use.
I suggest use about min 2 max 5. More passes, more quality and more time. Depends of your computer :p

Re-Check Enable RoBa OPV mode with predictable size and click OK

After that, click next.

on Default output folder we choose the folder where the DVD will saved.
on Output file type, choose Mpeg 2 (DVD or SVCD).

On Video encoders, choose Cinema Craft Encoder, the best but paid.

For sound on AC3 encoders, pick Aften because the other is paid.
( DDL note: I THINK that "Sonic Foundry" encoder comes with Sound Forge or Sony Vegas.)

Aspec ratio choose 4:3(full screen) or 16:9(image with black bars) (DDL Note: i think 16:9 is widescreen, isnt it?).

Video, choose PAL or NTSC (depends of your country. Brazil is PAL)
Arrange method you can choose Full Screen or with black bars,
Áudio: Check the Boost audio mode and pick DSPGuru.

Audio language 1: English
Click on next

Here is how in the image, Dont touch in the Bit rate. Press Next.
(DDL Note: He used same image... i think had to be audio settings here o_O)

Subtitles: I use permanent subs, this way they are already in the movie, we dont need to go DVD menu to choose.
Click in the blue bar at #1 's side so we can choose the subtitle's folder

Vertical Margin use: 35
If not, the subtitle will be below the screen.

Others keep the same. You can change the subtitle's color in the Color Primary: i use white.

To change Font, click in the "A"

VERY IMPORTANT
Font's type is the one you like.
The style is better be BOLD so you can read better.
The Size, the most important thing, must be 16. DO NOT PUT BIGGER or your final dvd will have subtitles with more than 2 lines, and subtitles with at most, 40 characters. (font size 16 accept until 41 chars).

Lots of subtitles downloaded from websites come with more than 40 chars so, slip them with Subtitle Workshop.
To check if have more than 40, open the subtitle workshop, go FILE, Open Subtitle:
now go tools, Info and errors, various informations and check the biggest line. In the example, we can see the biggest line is 41 characters. The FilmMachine accepts 41 characters with size 16.

now click on Preview Result so we can see how will be Outputted the DVD Final.
(the subtitles appear)

If you click with mouse's right-button, shows the FULL Screen option.

Now, just click in Make DVD and wat the encode finish.

This tutorial wants to help newbies, and show the excelent program: The Film Machine
