Making a 2D online Game

Well, Ive been bored lately and have been looking for a summer project. And I decided I wnat to learn how to make a massive game like www.habbohotel.co.uk or cokemusic.com . Kinda like you have your own person you get money or whatever and you buy furniture and stuff make rooms and chat with others.

What kind of programs do I need for this? Also what skills do I need? Also any tutorials?

Marcomedia Director is essential, along with decent graphics programs.

Also I do believe CokeMusic was designed by the same people who own HabboHotel - SuLake, and they created their own FUSE technology to support their game. So it is NOT a light undertaking.
