I got this on tuesday, and it is pretty cool. The single player is a lot better than the previous MarioKart games, you can play against CPUs in battle and vs mode for example. The WiFi is also cool, it took 3 minutes to set up. But compared to the other MK games, im not sure if it is better. The style is different and I prefer Mariokart 64, but this game has a lot more to do. One thing that i dont like is Donkey Kong's voice, he sounds gay, and a lot of the new level's music also sucks.

yes it is better than double dash, not that i dont like double dash

double dash was fun, it added the power slide and the double-character-kart, but it lacked the seriousness and intensity of MK64 and Super MK. It just seemed juvenile to me.

But the online is fun, although it lacks a couple of things like you can only play a 4 person game and not a 1v1 unless the system on finds 1 person. Battle mode and teams would also make it better, but hey, i expected less because it was nintendo's first official use of online gaming.

Yeah, hopefully, Animal Crossing DS will make much better use of the online function :)

My friend has mario cart for ds, it looks really nice. Game play is awesome, so are the graphics. Although psp has better graphics, ds has better games

Well then, on that note, I'll end up either buying MKDS to play on the DS I get for xmas, or I'll end up buying the MKDS bundle from bestbuy. I'm rather surprised though, I thought DS games were like $50, but most seem to be more like $30, which is actually within a price bracket I'm willing to buy from!

I have my own question related to the same thing though; BestBuy shows two different mariokart bundles, but I can't figure out why one costs less than the other.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=999945200050017&type=product&productCategoryId=pcmcat45400050008&id=pcmprd45400050017

^sorry if the links are off, but one is some special Limited Edition fire red ds with mario kart and removable decals for $150, while the other is a stock ds with mk for $164.98...why is the one costing less than the other when it's the more "special" one? I'm not against it obviously (I'll get the LE one if possible), I just don't get why its priced lower...

NM on the difference, the only difference is that bestbuy had the one bundle but not the other.

That aside, MKDS isn't holding my attention as much as I thought it would, but I'm probably getting distracted by Animal Crossing: Wild World. The graphics kick ass though, no complaining here :) I particularly like the double screen thing, it's used really well (top is racing, bottom is the map, which is good since there isn't enough space on either screen for a mini-map).

Graphics: 8/10 (Ignore my rating here though, because I only have two games and I don't have anything else to base the rating off of)
Sound: 8/10 (See above comment, but the sounds fit great)
Gameplay: 9/10 (Balloon Battle mode, you have to blow into the microphone to inflate your balloons on your gokart. My mom thinks it looks stupid but I thought it was a nice touch)

Overall: 9/10. You kinda gotta like racing games to get seriously hooked on it, but it's definetly one to pick up if you like to compete against friends :)
