Hi

I recently signed up for free hosting to try out the service. I have a domain from a third party that i wish to use.

So, as per tutorials i accessed the third party website and input x10host nameservers, this was a week ago, i visit the link, no page appears. I then remember i had to add the website as a parked domain so i log back into x10host and try to add the domain and the following occurs

"Unable to add the domain name − Invalid domain specified: domain name must have a valid TLD label"

Any ideas guys?

I just want my domain name to go the website i have hosted on x10hosting

I'd suggest going to https://cloudflare.com for them to host your domain.
Doing so they'll redirect from your domain provider, to them then to your website.

Example:
Domain.com -> CloudFlare.com -> Mywebsite.me;

This allows CloudFlare to become your main domain provider
(THEY EVEN HAVE SUPER EASY WALK THROUGH TUTORIALS!)

Allowing CloudFlare to become your domain provider allows them to:
  • Issue a FREE SSL Certificate (Encrypts your site);
  • Analytics
  • Cache Control
  • DNS Control
  • Development Options
  • Optional Install Platforms
  • So much more
Additionally,
This is how you set up your domain to x10 (without CloudFlare);
  1. Register a domain name from a trusted domain provider.
  2. Login to your domain dashboard;
  3. Go to x10hosting.com and Park your domain name;
    • Select the root folder you want your domain to land on.
  4. Go back to your domain dashboard and set the NS (Name Servers);
  5. Wait a few moments, for the change to take effect (24-72 hrs)
With CloudFlare these changes are almost instant.

They would still need to add the domain to their X10 account regardless of CloudFlare. It is also checked if the domain is using the X10 name servers.

If you were to use CloudFlare with a custom domain on X10, it would generally be like so...
1. set/change the nameserver records for the custom domain to the x10hosting ones
2. add it as a parked domain (if somewhat intended to be a "replacement" [more of an alternative] to the X10-provided sub-domain) or as an addon domain (if you need it pointing towards a specific directory)

The problem here is they cannot add it at all because the domain extension is supposedly not whitelisted and it doesn't sound like they want to have it redirected either.
