Could be my sound card but...

I have had 2 mics with this problem, both by Logitech but different models.

I go to my control panel and when I look at the "output level" if thats what it would be called, it jumps all out of wack even when nothing is being said into it and my surroundings are quite.

Anybody have experience fixing the problem?

Do you have any phones or anything like that around it? SOmetimes that screws up your mic? Maybe make sure the plugs in right and in the right spot. Also sometimes its just your mic volume, adjust it. And sometimes its even where you are with it? If its in one place it maybe differnet if it was 2 cm over.

Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio > Sound Recording > Volume

Then click the Advanced button under Microphone. Under Other Controls, make sure MIC Boost is not checked.

My Mic did something similar. MIC Boost seems to make the microphone super sensitive to sounds sometimes. Othertimes, the mic wouldn't pick any sounds up if it wasn't turned on. I don't know. :-/

i have this problem sometimes if i set my sound setting wrong under control panel.
Try using direct sound see if your mic then picks everything up then after time try resting it back to its orginal device settings.
