Microsoft on Tuesday began rolling out a new Windows Live Messenger build to beta testers, streamlining the client's interface and adding a number of new features such as integration with Windows Live Contacts. Anybody get this fragmentation report as a result of installing WLM beta?

Fragments - 17

File Size - 8.00 GB

Most fragmented files - \Documents and Settings\Erik\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Messenger\[email address here]\SharingMetadata\Working\SimilarityTable_2

It's obvious the file size is wrong since I only have used up a bit more than 8 gigs on this partition of my C:\; does anyone know of a fix for this?

There is no fix for it. I can remember though that it was posted on their blog about this and the blogger when into alot of detail about it. Shame I can't find the blog post right now :sadwavey:

The new version is really cool. The only thing I don't like is that computers with either 256 memory or even 512 might lag a bit with this on. Add this new MSN with AIM and you little un used memory. Also, I had no fragments (as i could tell) from the Live.

Lol, I tried deleting the fragments, and it gave me the error message that it was too large to send to the recycle bin; I did some research and apparently it's a really messed up sparse file.. it claims to occupy 8 GB of space when in actualization it only uses 1 MB or so
