Microsoft has announced their new operating system ("Windows Vista"). What are your opinions on it and do you plan on upgrading/buying it?

Personally, I am going not going to buy it unless I get a new computer (not likely) that comes with it. I haven't read anything that seems overly awesome yet.

Here's its "official page": VISTA!

I don't plan on getting it except if it comes bundled with a computer. Personally I think Vista is just xp with fancy skinning and search capabilities.

Hopefully micrsoft doesn't cripple the themeing ablity by requiring signed themes.

well from what ive heard you'll have to get new hardware just to run that operating system (64 bit?) but yeah i dont plan on upgrading to vista any time soon.. ill most likely stick with xp.. at least until new computers start rolling off the line with vista preinstalled..

I (myself) had a look at Vista in action on my mates PC, I think he got the Beta 1 illegally :naughty: and it looks like XP with WindowBlinds installed.

P.S: There is a 32 and 64bit version of Vista, 64bit about half the size <--- Dont know how that works

I will never buy it even if Microsoft Sends it Free because it needs 1GB RAM (Minimum) And Dual Core Processor! Holy Cow Microsoft must be nuts or somthing. They are really unfair. I hope Vesta NEVER comes.

hey guess what? microsoft just revealed that vista will be ready to ship out during holidays of 2006

if you ask me, vista seems too rushed, just like the xbox 360..
my prediction? complete failure.

if microsoft put time and effort and delivered a GOOD product, their rep would be much better..

I'll get it but, I'm gonna wait a few months after its release to make sure it's secure and will stay that way. My computer already has The ability to run Vista(acording to the Vista website). My only real concern is the support for Windows 95 software.

I think I'll buy it once the final version comes out, I mean with all SP's. In the meantime I'll go and buy a copy to use it at the begining.

I'm going to wait a bit before I think about buying it. My freind asked me what were the new features, and all I could say was it looked better. It is basically like XP but it's new which means there will be more bugs and securty holes when it comes out so I'm going to stick to XP for now.

Umm read this! They may change but for average computers you would atleast want 512 to even have decent performance with all the new programs and games out right now.

Maybe it'll be a nice chance to throw away [if it is] a old pc and get a brand new one.

Totally agree on that. They always rush stuff. Get's freaking annoying. Xbox360 was such a great product but they had to rush it and ruin the fun. I don't see how people so dumb can make such money.

And damnit they better have better security. I'm really considering Linux at the moment.

Definitly NOT!!! All Vista is, is XP with a new skin. Everything it's going to do OS X Tiger already does. So much for their new file system, its gone.

Longhorn = Old Vista.

They renamed longhorn to vista. Longhorn was just a codename.

[offtopic]
I'm starting to find the computer getting old.. as in.. boring these days.
I think god's giving me a sign to go out to find some puntang or something.

Dang..
