Mysql connection problem

Well first I tried to install the latest version of phpbb2 and was having problems with it connecting to the database..

Now Im trying to install SMF board and having the same problem..

The installer was unable to access the "shroomin_board" database. With some hosts, you have to create the database in your administration panel before SMF can use it. Some also add prefixes - like your username - to your database names.


Can someone help me?

You have to go into your cpanel under mysql databases and create the database. Then you have to add a user to the database.

I did create the database. "shroomin_board"... i made it just board but it added the username prefix .. dunno whats up with that.

And yes I created the user too shroomin_shroom

Any other ideas?

Did you try adding the user to the database in cpanel ??

ok didnt realize i had to actually click 'add user' since it showed it in the dropdown.. got it working now, thanks.
