Can anyone tell me what permissions I shold have on the www folder and public html??

Uploaded my site using ftp yesterday but when viewing it was asking for password? Changed permissions and now just get an error 403 access forbidden page?

Cheers but tried that bud, still got error 403 page, only one that seems to work is 774 but even then I need to use my login and password to view it.

Yes, a script you have installed needs it, osCommerce Administration.

If you see a .htaccess file, rename that to .htaccess2 to see if it works then.

Just tried your suggestion Brandon, gave me two files after renaming, one called .htaccess and one called .htaccess2 lol.

I did have ecommerce installed on there but removed it yesterday so I tried to delete the .htaccess file also but would not go. I am using legacy file manager to edit them because the ordinary file manager does not show any files in my public html or www folders ????

Just had a look and there is a folder called htpasswds on there with subfolder public html - Agora, cgi-bin and shop! should I delete these?? since Im not using Agora or Shop anymore?
Dunno what cgi-bin is or why its password protected tho lol

You can delete the Agora and shop if you are no longer using them.

Sort of got it working, how you can view my site without entering username and password but the permissions have had to be set to 774, is that ok or will it cause me any problems??

Also can someone just have a look and tell me if it is working, just to make sure my pc is'nt autocompleting the logon lol

One more thing does anyone know how i can change my forum username? thought about 'silly b*llox' so everyone gets warned of my stupid questions before reading the thread :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:
