i was in geeklog uploading my avatar, and i clicked save preerences and it gave me this error:

File Upload Errors
Specified upload directory, /home/dblkill/public_html/geeklog/images/userphotos exists but is not writable

and it didnt upload the avatar...why cant i upload my avatar?? why is it unwritable?? :pinch:

what? whats CHMOD? I think i have heard of it before, but what is that , and how do i do it?

just connect witha ftp client. rightclick on the directory and CHMOD to 777

Go to File Manager via cpanel then go to public_html folder then go to geeklog folder then images folder then go to userphotos folder.. just click the link to the folder look to the right window you will see something about change permission then click it then select all boxes and you would have CHMOD to 777..

OR

If you are using ftp go directly to the userphtos folder.. right click folder and go to Properties/CHMOD... then you CHMOD to 777..

so........this? (in filezilla,right-click,file attributes)

chmod0iv.jpg


change the highlighted 55 to 77? what does 777 mean? writeable?

or do the checkboxes also work?

.....OK i checked both the write boxes and it changed it to 777....so.i think that worked! :)
