Recently I had bought a domain of godaddy, so I was wondering if any one else has a godaddy account? if so could you tell me how I can make a sub-domain.. my domain now is www.blue-inc.org. I want to make a sub-domain so it will look like this: www.blue-inc.org/site so I can forward my domain to my two sites I created with google page maker. But godaddys user interface isn't all to easy. Can any one direct me to a place where I can find out how to make sub-domains with my godaddy account.

Thanks.

www.blue-inc.org/site isn't a subdomain... a subdomain would be something.blue-inc.org, but either way you just need to set your name servers to x10's name servers:

Firstly, in your GoDaddy account, click "Manage Domains" from the first page you are brought to when you log in. Check the box next to the domain BLUE-INC.ORG and then click the gray "Set Name Servers" button above. On the right side of the screen now it will say "Set Name Servers" and below that heading a bit of information on what a name server is. Below that choose the "Custom Name Servers" radio and NS1.X10HOSTING.COM in the "Name Server 1" field and NS2.X10HOSTING.COM in the "Name Server 2" field. Leave the third field empty, and click the green "Save Changes" button.

It usually takes a few hours to a day to change the name servers, but after it does you will be able to use URLs like www.blue-inc.org/site provided you have a site directory in your public_html or WWW folder.

PM me if you have any other questions about GoDaddy's interface.

Yes, in cPanel you can choose the domain to add a subdomain onto after you have parked your domain. For me, when I create a subdomain, I can choose to add it to cynic.x10hosting.com or cynicalgames.com.

Don't bother asking GoDaddy's support team how to setup a subdomain.. they get all sorts of confused.

I believe the domain is already set up for x10's servers. ;)

For the sub-domains, you create them in cPanel like Conor said in his post. There is an image that says "Subdomains" on the third row down on cPanel's main index page.

Everything there is pretty much self-explanatory. You enter the subdomain you wish to have, and click on the submit button and it is created.

Remember that like with a domain name, subdomains require the DNS to propagate before you will be able to see them. It shouldn't take very long though.

Edit: Woo we posted at the same time.

:/

The thing is the google page creator that I am using isn't hosted on x10 servers. So doing things via cPanel isn't much of choice for me as it clearly wouldn't work. I also have a yahoo account, it has a much easier user interface for making subdomains though. But is there a way to forward a subdomain to another link; using godaddy?

Like this: http://blue.ltd.googlepages.com/home I want too put a forwarded subdomain on that link so when you tap' in http://site.blue-inc.org it will lead you to http://blue.ltd.googlepages.com/home

If that is possible please tell me how.

Make the sub domain "site.blue-inc.org" and then set up a forwarder on that, so when someone goes to it they are redirected.

I really wanted to do this via domain registrar because I want the URL to be Masked Forwarded. Is there a way you can mask the URL in cPanel?

Thanks for the people above that posted.

http://site.blue-inc.org

I have that setup now, thanks Bryon, but I want to mask the URL so it doesn't show the original link. Any one know how?

I had a domain with http://no-ip.com/ they allowed me to create subdomains with their service.

Yeah, but I want to use blue-inc.org my original domain which I own. And I want to forward it to my sites and blogs that I made on another server.

Edit: this maybe late, but as Bryon said I have my name servers configured to x10's servers already.. some one said about me pointing my name servers to x10 when it was originally pointed to there servers... yeah.

You can transfer a domain to another domain registrar (that supports creation of subdomains with their services) for cheap. I don't recommend http://no-ip.com/ because (although they have EXCELLENT services) they are a bit costly, but if you have the money they are, like I said, excellent.

I don't know I heard godaddy were the best, but there user interface isn't to easy to handle, that why I was asking if you could setup subdomains with godaddy. I have three yahoo accounts which are easy as I said.. those which I can setup sub-domains but you cannot forward those sub-domains and mask it... so yeah.. I can make sub-domains via cPanel, but I cannot mask them.
