Network Connection Timing Out for my site

I am trying to log into my account in cPanel, but the neywork connection is timing out. Same with my site. I was in the middle of updating the software I use and all of a sudden the site isn't connecting and is timing out. The seems to be online though, there appears no problem with the server. Please let me know what's wrong. I was in the middle of updating my blog software, I hope nothing gets screwed up
