Hello, my name is James Toney, I am new to x10 hosting. I like it so far. I am designing a star trek fan site, however, star trek is not the only thing I'm into.
I am also setting up an electronic bulletin board system with massive multiple player online door games.
Throughout the years I have designed a lot of web sites for companies and for myself, as a hobby. Before the Internet and after the internet came along, I used to run my own online services called BBS's
The most successful Bulletin Board system I ran back in the early to mid 90's was called JamTone's Headquarters BBS. I ran in on an extra telephone line that went directly into my dial-up modem so that people could come and log onto my computer, share files, chat, and play choose your own adventure style door games. It also helped me stay in contact with my family out of state, and meet girls. At one point, the whole thing was mouse driven, it was completely graphical using rip script, and it was more fun to me than any other system out there including AOL and Prodigy who at the time were small BBS systems running under windows.
My Second BBS was called Renegade Media. It was also a success. I implemented Telnet so that I could go to school and use Zmodem to upload videos to my personal computer from the math lab. I did that so I could stay up all night every night watching Algebra videos. I finally passed elementary Algebra with a B after two failed attempts. It took me a few years, but I passed the mandatory state exit exam.
The BBS would run 24 hours a day, and someone would pop in to play barren realms elite, planets, or Legend of the Red Dragon. I also had an Artificial Intelligence program set up to chat with visitors. Its was fun to play with because some people actually thought they were talking to a real person.
Renegade Media ran for around 1 1/2 years back in 2004-2006.
In 2008 I started Bible BBS. As soon as I installed the program, people started logging in from all over the world, just to read the Holy Bible without a bunch of commercials and advertisements. I put Bible Trivia, Jacobs Ladder (a Door Game), Verse of the Day, and lots of other things. I also still had the RPG's installed, so someone would log onto Bible BBS and slaughter the Red Dragon and seduce the inn keeper. I guess I did'nt want to call it Bible BBS anymore because there were other things on there that were not appropriate for the name. In 2010 I closed Bible BBS because Ansi BBS systems were not popular, and a system called Bible BBS should not have secular themes.
ITs 2011, I have set up so many Internet Web sites.
My main company site is http://itca.webs.com
My new site here on x10 is called United Federation of Planets. http://truevideo.x10.mx
Web Sites I have designed include all-united.com (down), Coffeeshoptv.com (up, but massively altered by Client), http://a1acab.net (down), Man there are so many. Just check out my web sites and you will see how I have implemented functionality and Design.
I am trying to come up with a theme for the refit and remake of Renegade Media BBS. I am bringing back the lost art of Ansi graphics. Im thinking of implementing an FTP script so that if my IP address changes then it will log onto x10 and update a link to my BBS from my free web site.
Any cool Ideas for a trek based global news forum with access to the Bible and some old school door games? Drop me a line. rapturerapper@gmail.com
