I registered for a free web hosting account 3 days ago. I am trying to set up a Joomla site there. Things are working fine for me except for the observation that the site is really slow.

I read a few threads about the free account sites of others being slow due to some server upgrades. Currently Absolut.x10hosting.com is facing some Apache problems too. Could the slow site be due to these reasons or free account sites are expected to be slow?

By slow i mean that a page takes around 10 seconds to load. Other pages from all other sites load at blink speed so i guess the problem is not at my end.

Please advise.

Hosting details
Server : Absolut.x10hosting.com
Site : phmindia.x10hosting.com
Joomla : Joomla v 1.0.13

The absolut server is currently having some problems and this is more than likely the reason for your site being slow.

Just to inform you the site loaded almost isntantly for me.

My site is under development. So all that the site displays is the corresponding message. That message page loads fine.

I am having problems with the Joomla site administration pages which are more elaborate.

In any case lets wait till the issues get resolved.

Thanks for your response.

Even I have noticed it, but it is probably that the sites created with Joomla usually contain a lot of content, so I think it takes some time to load.....

Gerenally J00mla doesn't send out a lot of data for each page it's showing. In my experience with it. I have always found it quick to load. But each persons case is different.

Is it still causing problems now that the server issues are resolved?
