Newbie help

Hello guys,sorry I'm a newbie in webhosting..Recently I've just learned how to program in php and now I wanted to put my files on the web but then i don't know what to do next.Basically I'm only setting $connect = mysql_connect("localhost","root",""); and it only gives me bunch of connection errors....where can I find these three parameters on my account?

localhost is correct, root is not. Replace root with the username you signed up with and all will be dandy .

Search the forums for more on the topic; it's been covered many times before.

The old mysql extension is outdated. Use PDO, which is easier, more featureful and supports prepared statements. If you need a tutorial, try "Writing MySQL Scripts with PHP and PDO".
