Hey, guys. As you might have guessed, this thread is to inform those of you who have a DS that the Nintendo DS will be going Online on November 14, 2005, for free. Nintendo offers three ways to connect: 1: Usin g a homw Wi-Fi network, 2: Using the (money costing) Wi-Fi USB adapter, or 3: Using one of the thousands of free hotspots around the US. Their will only be two games you can play online up until December 5, 2005, at which time you can add Animal Crossing: Wild World to Tony Hawk: American sk8land, and Mario Kart DS, both of which are playable online. The game that I am persoanlly waiting for to play online is Metroid Prmie Hunters, scheduled for Q1 2006...... post your comments here.

It's cool and all :shifty: But is it only at US for the hotspots? Since I only know that McDonalds has hotspots here. -.-

I don't exactly LOVE the DS, but I don't hate it...... Also, I want a PSP, but can't get one of those, or else I would ditch my DS.

I don't understand these portable systems...don't get me wrong, i do like where technology is going and all, but why cant we stick with one handheld and make games for it? I still have a working Sega Gamegear and GameBoyColor(yes, color, not advance, color. the one that had a colored lcd screen.), and i tend to use them every day.

If i had the money though i'd just buy a laptop, then get a game i'd actually like to play (i'm sure some of the ds games would be fun to play, but unless i can get some serious killing done in ut2004 or warhammer dawn of war, i probably wouldnt get much use out of it)

in response to post above mine: agreed. no question about it, agreed. *plugs in psone and plays Carnage Heart again*

Glad to see I attracted some people to the thread..... Here is why I think it is cool that the DS is going online..... While Nintendo may only let people play games that they want to be played, there are always tunnelers. Since nobody has currently been able to tunnel the DS, thanks to NiFi (NOT a typo) it is Nintendo's wireless alogorithim, now, since Nintendo is releasing the software to make the DS be able to interact with a computer or router, I think that tunnelers will start to try again, and more than likely succeed. For those of you who don't know what tunneling is, I will tell you. Tunneling is "tricking" the game sytem into believeing it is playing a multiplayer game, all things normal, the trick is that the people who you are playing with..... are online.
