Which is better? Kaspersky or Norton?

There has always been alot of debate on this subject as Norton has been around since the beginning of time vs Kasperky has not.

HOWEVER......

In my opinion Norton is loosing their edge as in my opinion they have already "made thier buck" on their software.

It seems even though there are newer more powerful computers out today and more malicious software out they (Norton)s products STILL eat a boatload of computer resources and have a horrible antivirus removal procedure!

"Hey Im Norton..I just found a Virus but we cant delete it or tell you where or what it is! What would you like to do?"

How about throw my computer in the trash!

Kaspersky however is a fresher company that uses NEW detection techniques, is better on computer resources (including starup scans on boot) and doesnt have any false postives!

Not to mention as any security fanatic knows, that Norton's popup/ad blocker is straight garbage vs Kaspersky wont even let some of the ok ads through..lol.

Anyway I could write about this ALL DAY about the benefits...but I am hoping someone thinks different and say Norton is better! Ow that hurts to even say that.

Oh BTW please dont talk to me about NOD32. Dont even get me started on the RIDICULOUS firewall (which is great) that is if you want to sit for a hour trying to open a program or webpage because you had to answer the 1000 questions it asks you!

Well this I say should be a good starter for a debate!!!

Probably Kaspersky. I personally use AVG, as I don't encounter viruses that often; in addition to that I have Windows Defender to give me a nice false sense of security from spyware (I rarely encounter that stuff also).

You hit that right on the button w/ Windows Defender! "False sense of Security" LOL.

I also agree w/ you on AVG as far as a low budget or free Security Software...which I actually thought I read somewhere that their not giving it out for free no more. I guess thats a good thing cause then that way they will have money to make it a commercial competitor.

norton is FREAKING gay at lagging your com. i installed norton that time and my cpu usage shot up to 70% all the time and memory from 400mb to 780+mb.

kaspersky is the best antivirus i ever used. it only consume 24k mem and not much cpu power (arnd 5-10%). and it is DANG good at catching virus. my laptop is saved from the trojans sent from my college friends by kaspersky. :D

I used nortan and it sucked ass so I moved to Zone alarm and it was fine but was a pain in the ass sometimes it locked up the entire computer and internet so to kasperky and it was a pain in the ass when it came to gaming.

So I use Windows Firewall and AVG.

Well, I prefer NOD32 too, for its "idiot" approach - you install it, put your license details, and completely forget you even have it until you stumble upon a virus, or some kind of threat. I've used kaspersky in the past, but somehow it didn't fit me (can't explain why), and made a mistake of installing Norton antivirus in 2003 - had to reinstall windows because it just didn't uninstall, not to mention low detection rate, and weekly updates (both NOD and Kaspersky have updates almost hourly)...

You should have used a poll.

Anyway, as far as your question is concerned.... ANYTHING is better than norton... norton is simply a mass false positives producing memory hog!
Anyway, Kaspersky is fine but it still takes a lot of memory (not as much as Norton atleast). Try AVG (I use it... but it too is being known now for false positives) or NOD32.

Out of those two: Kaspersky!!!! Not even a doubt about it. As mentioned many times before: it feeds on lag.

I've used Kaspersky in the past and loved it, then a friend recommended NOD32 and I loved it even more!

It's like
-install NOD32
-set it up
-Use your computer without even thinking about viruses anymore.

You don't even get reminded of it all the time, the only times you'll notice NOD32 is there is when it'll detect a virus. :)

I personally use NOD32. It works just fine. As for Norton Antivirus, I dislike it as for one it is a resource hog and slows down your computer and secondly it is vulnerable

Used to use Norton although we still got Virus's and the P.C was as slow as hell so the kind people at the P.C fixing place thingy-ma-jighy installed Kapersky and we've had no problems since.

I used Norton first, then moved onto NOD32 and now I use Kaspersky. I found with NOD32, I had less computer issues (like browser stalling, don't know if it had to do with that or what, though I did start noticing it once I installed it).

I think it was NOD32 that would tell me I got a virus by visiting a site and it gave me the option of delete or quarantine. I click delete and it says it can't delete so it will quarantine, and then that message keeps popping up until I completely close the browser.

I think Norton is better because it is more heard of and because it is used frequently by user around the world.

Norton Internet sercurity
orton AntiVirus (NAV) is a popular product of Symantec Corporation and is one of the most widely used antivirus programs. Norton AntiVirus is sold as a standalone product and is also included as part of Norton Internet Security and Norton SystemWorks.

In addition, there is also a standalone corporate edition version called Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition. It is aimed at a centrally managed corporate environment and has different features not present in the traditional retail version of the software.

Since its release in 1990, over 100 million people around the world have used it. After the acqusition of Central Point Software in 1994 by Symantec, NAV was integrated with its main competitor of the era, Central Point Anti-Virus (CPAV). CPAV was also licensed to Microsoft as the Microsoft Anti-Virus utility.

From year 2000, I used to think norton antivirus rocks, until about 2003, I begin to see Symantec Product are bloatwares. until now they still have bloatwares product.

I been using nod32 for 4 years now, it rocks, it is cool, it is the best most stable anti-virus. Kaspersky and Nod32 share the same ranking the no.1 anti-virus in the entire World.

Kaspersky is more of an heavier engine compared to Nod32 hence, I do not use it, secondly there is quite some issues on certain software working together with Kaspersky that will cause Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD) and also it uses more memory resources as compared to nod32.

I cannot wait for the nod32 security suite it will sound like a heaven product, the world's lightest engine, yet strongest of all. try to think of their firewall, their hips woot it will seens like the best.I cannot wait for it final release to see if many beta tester said was true.
