Does anyone here like oldschool dos programs? I found this cool thingy called TPPATCH.exe you call it from a command line and it removes the y2k glitch from all your old favorite software. Then you have Dosbox.exe which is a windows program that emulates dos. The cool thing about dosbox is that it brings the music back to the old Dos games.
Anyway, I am running an Ansi BBS program that I have linked to my x10 hosting account. Check it out at truevideo.x10.mx (my star trek fan site) and click on gallery. The great big link on the right should take you to a flash terminal. If you cant log on with adobe flash in a web browser then you can use a mini telnet client such as minitel. The telnet address is telnet://federation.dyndns.tv on port 23 (default port)
The Html information is served through port 80. So the web page address for the BBS is http://tinyurl.com/trekbbs
We just started and we are getting hits. everyone who logs on either complements me on the BBS or they say wow how did you get this old program to work so well?
Im just doing it for fun. I hope it doesn't run up the energy bill. Anyway, its free so go log on. The protocals might be old, but the file transfers go really fast. I am waiting before I start to play, to see if anyone else wants to. I am also looking for a co-sysop (who knows how to program Renegade BBS)
