I really like how Oxwall is made and it's very small but supposedly the server doesn't have the required version. So I was wondering could I update the php myself somehow (cuz I'm a nub) and diddle with it that way or is it impossible because of the server just not being my server. I would like to figure this all out piece by piece and finalize figuring out what I'm trying to use.
I was playing around with BoonEx and from what I was reading while figuring it out and it seemed pretty cool. but I installed some modules and it started being quite goofy. From what I was reading it's really bloated and needs to be rethought as something easy for users of your site to use.
I ripped the requirements for Oxwall from the http://www.oxwall.org/hosting website and I was also wondering if this would be the best host to try and do this on. I mean I could figure all this out with help from friends and such but I'm trying to see the hurdles before I get there that way I can plan ahead
PHP updated to 5.3.6 with 60 new bugfixes
If you plan to host your site elsewhere make sure your host meets the following hosting requirements:
Linux/Unix/Windows
Apache 2 or higher (with mod_rewrite module)
PHP 5.2.6 or higher with:
register_globals off
safe_mode off
suPHP off
suApache off
suhosin off
PHP modules:
PDO
DOM
mbstring
zip
zlib
ftp
json
MySQL 5.0 or higher
GD Library 2 with FreeType support
Mail server (SendMail, Exim or other)
Cron
