Hello All,

I took up this add free account on x10hosting some 3 months back which really helped me how things are handled on server side.

Now yesterday I purchased a domain name from godaddy.com. I typed in the purchased domain name in the browser and it seems to be showing some default page from godaddy.com.

What I want is (if possible) to show up my current public_html directory when I type my purchased domain name in browser. Basically I need to park my domain on my add free account. Is it possible ??

I am a newbie in these things, so kindly help me. Kindly tell me the steps needed for this to happen.

Also at many places I read about DNS server. What does this actually mean, and how is it related to my purchased domain.

Thanx in advance.

Yes, there are 2 ways to do this, one is to use godaddy to forward the domain to your site, help for this is available on their site. The other way is this:

Login to godaddy and change the nameservers which hosts your domain.. Nameservers should set to ns1.x10hosting.com and ns2.x10hosting.com, Once they are changed, login to www.x10hosting.com/login and find the "Account Details" section, check the box to use your own domain and enter it there. Or, you can "Park" it in the cPanel section of your website to keep your existing domain as your main one.

Thanx I got it and it did worked for me. But I want my domain to point to a specific directory.

By default it is pointing to /public_html, but I want it to point to /public_html/parkeddomaindirectory

Can this be done, i don't see any option of changing the domain root in the parked domain section.

Kindly help.
Edit:
I tried redirecting my parked domain to some specific folder of my website at x10hosting. But then the url in the browser changes from www.mysite.com to www.myx10site.x10hosting.com/mysitefolder.

Can you suggest something, so that I can have my www.mysite.com pointing directly to www.myx10site.x10hosting.com/mysitefolder. Basically its about setting the document root for www.mysite.com to www.myx10site.x10hosting.com/mysitefolder.

Can this be done ??

Make your domain nameservers to point to

ns1.x10hosting.com
ns2.x10hosting.com

Login to your cPanel, Goto Add-On Domains section and Add your domain selecting the directory which it has to point.

You're done.

I removed my www.mysite.com from parked domain and added that under sub-domain as told by u, but now I am getting the Apache page.

Do I need to have that in parked domain too. ??
