Hi,

I have setup password protection for two folders within my website - cv and photoalbums and even though via the control panel it has created the htaccess files, this does not appear to have worked?

Also I have created a 404 page and this also does not appear to have worked?

Thanks,
G

Hi,

Can no-one provide any help with this? Is there an issue with the built in features in the control panel with regards to password protection and creating 404 pages? Would appericate a response either way?

Further details to help resolve this problem:

cPanel Username: gagandeeptiwana
Subdomain: gagandeeptiwana.com
X10 Package: Add Free
How long your account has been up: 2 Weeks
URL: http://www.gagandeeptiwana.com/cv/cv.html

The above page should request the user to enter in a username and password rather than display a 404 error. htaccess files are visable and on the site and these were added via the control panel inbuilt features, however this does nto appear to work, please help?

Thanks,
G

Russ provided you with an example on how to setup a 404 error page, for which there is no trace of such in your .htaccess files, which explains why its not working

Hi,

The problem has now been resolved so this can be closed. However I would like to point out the issue had nothinng to do with 404 errors etc as suggested and I had to dig around and resolve this myself.
