Is it possible that I could have allow_furl_open() enabled? I would like to create a phpDig search thing for forums that advertise on my advertising forum.

Any possibilities?

Thanks

"PhpDig is a web spider and search engine written in PHP, using a MySQL database and flat file support. PhpDig builds a glossary with words found in indexed pages. On a search query, it displays a result page containing the search keys, ranked by occurrence."

IPB is a forum software, not a web spider. This software seems to be a web spider?

I didn't think Web Spiders are allowed, considering some of them actually use more than 20% of the servers CPU when spidering :p

Oh, I didn't think it would matter because the way I have it running on my localhost, it only indexes the first page which is almost instant

What is it indexing?

On another note, currently we don't allow the most commonly abused PHP functions which includes "allow_furl_open()".

I don't know, I really couldn't expect many. They would all be forums. Mabey 30-40ish.

I wouldn't think that would be too bad, but again we don't allow that function as it can be abused in attacks on other sites. You could apply for sustained server hosting as that function will most likely be allowed there.

Yup, he could do that, but it'd take him a while (by months, since he's not even been here a week) to get accepted, unless he posts a lot and gets a whole bunch of points or something.

Okay, I'll just see if I can find another host for the search thing. I'll keep my forums here though because it's nice and fast :)

I guess you can close this.
