I need to update the php beginner to intermediate to send and receive emails, because I have contacts in school and I want to track through the mail.

As far as I know, all the free accounts are set to the intermediate PHP as default, and you should be able to use the mail functions.

Your account panel may say Version - 1 Basic, but it’s actually v2.

I don't know anything about the difference between beginner and intermediate PHP, but I can verify that the mail() function works in PHP. My blog uses it all the time to email me whenever there are new comments.

Sometimes the mail() function is temporarily disabled for security reasons, but during normal times, anyone can use it freely.
