php vs jsp

HI ,
currently i am pursuing course on j2ee. i wanted to know what are pros and cons of jsp and php.
also what other programmers here use and why???

I have some scripts of php and looking at the codes it seems to be quite simple to use.
i had asked my tutor about baic difference between jsp and php , she said she was not fami;liar with php but according to her, java is more secure than php.
if i had to create a shopping site what should i prefer???
please help.

Erm. to be honest with you, I would choose php, as it can be very secure, if you know what you doing, however, I have had no experience in jsp so I wouldn't know.

I would still use PHP, over JSP even if I did know it.

And really its your choice, which language you choose!

You can use a wide verity of languages Java, PHP, Python, Ruby etc. You need to choose the right programming language for you not the latest and greatest just because its there, its important you are comfortable programming in you language of choice.

As far as security goes its as strong as you make it.
