I think I'm getting a similar problem.

Firefox wants to download any php files I try to view.

My problem was coming and going so I just deleted the whole lot. Now with a fresh installation, I can't get it to load at all.

Now my FTP has stopped working.

I'm actually getting really pissed off. I've been trying to set up my site all f'n day and now I can't do anything.
