Should we keep 9 planets or drop to 8?

Okay, I gave you guys the chance to start this topic over a week ago and it's still not started! I know I've started so many topics in the last few days I'm sick of starting topics, but this one has to be started. Sorry guys, but it does. Sooo..

Do you think there should be only 8 planets as the definition of a planet explains or should we stay with 9? Explain.

I really don't care about the scientific documentational stuff that made them change it. What made them put 9 in the first place?! Thats my explanation.

Thats not what I mean, I mean I don't really care that there are 9 planets and ONE of the 9 didn't fit in with the other 8. I say just leave it and not make the kindergarten teachers reteach the materal about learning planets.

That doesn't important to me.... as long as earth is still there, and I can live here in my whole life. Having a new or losing one planet is not that important...

Pluto has always been questionable as a planet for alot of scientists. The only problem is that in school for years upon years it has been taught that there were 9 planets now they are saying 8. In school there is only one thing that you can be sure of... the only facts taught are those that have been deemed "okay" by the 'select' officials at the time. Whether it is factual or not is irrelevant as long as enough people, or the "right" people as it were, believe it to be true.

So my opinion? Doesn't matter... I don't plan on leaving this planet anytime soon to investigate it.

Personally I've been always been told that Pluto is the 9th Planet in the Solar System, However maybe that cause im old fashioned. Anyhow i dont see the reason to rename and relearn the system as the current one is just as good, specificly why make it 8? there are known reports of 12~13 Planet "like" mases beyond pluto, but cant totally 100% that they planets.. So stick with 8 until technology can confirm and that we can see with our own eyes that these planets exist.

Eight. The definition has changed, as they sometimes do. And its perfectly resonable--there was evidence for a long time that, when they discovered Pluto, it was only a mass of ice and gas. For a planet to be considered a planet, it must have, I believe, a certain gravitational mass set by the council that changed the definition.

So, in short, I whole-heartidly accept the idea of eight planets: even if it makes all of our text books obsolete!

Do you really want all those kids in Kindergarten to relearn their planets and have to repeat kinder again? I know I would be mad! Eight planets, yes, but can't we at least hold off on that for a bit longer? At least til next summer?

I doubt the international council of astronomists (or whatever they're called) conform to the schedual of a grade schooler.

A bit harsh, but I think it goes without saying -_-
