cPanel: sup3rkir
Error page: http://sup3rkirby.x10hosting.com/chat

For some reason, I seem to be getting pop-up ads on my ad-free hosting package.

So far the only place I have noticed this is on one page(the link above). First I had a problem with the script, but that has been fixed(as I was using the chat script earlier, with 0 error).

But even before that problem was fixed I noticed I would occasionally get a pop-up ad when clicking the 'Log In' button.

The strangest thing is, there is not 1 single line of code for any kind of ad, none the less a pop-up ad or even a pop-up.

You can always check if you'd like, but the button simply runs some JS that checks a users name, then sends an xmlhttp request to a PHP file. Even in the PHP file, there is no code for any kind of pop-up, or ad.

So, why exactly is this? I'm rather sure there isn't much I can do about something like this. There is nothing for me to modify to prevent this. It is happening against my will and I can't for the life of me figure out where such a thing is coming from.

That ad is definitely not from us.

I suggest searching all of your login code including javascript.

The ad comes from a site called searchportal.information.com and the same website is on the 404 Error page.
Could your AJAX be getting a 404 error (Or similar) and passing the popup over to the user.

Ah, so you're telling me when something such as a 404 error comes up through something like my AJAX script, it can bring up something like a pop-up, as it is essentially part of your automatic 404 error system.

Well, That makes a bit more sense and I can understand how this could happen now.

I guess this just means I'll have to figure out how to stop these 404 errors now.(sometimes they happen, sometimes they don't, even if I don't modify any code...)

The other option would be to create your own Error Pages, which you can do from cPanel.
