Hello everyone...
I am using dial-up. Please don't tell me to buy DSL or anything as it isn't available here.
I was wondering if it would be possible to run a SHOUTcast server.
Please tell me before I waste hours of my time downloading Winamp and all that other stuff:biggrin:

No, I wouldn't think so. You may just be able to support a very low quality stream (<30kbps bitrate, which will sound terrible) but it'll be very expensive.

What would I have to pay for?
I can't even have a max user limit of one?

Your phone bill will be very expensive if your using dial-up.

It may be possible to support 1 listener, you could always try, and see if it works.

Well actually I don't pay for the amount of bandwidth used, I have an unlimited account.
I guess you're right, its worth a shot!

Please remember to post back with the results of your test. I'll be interested to know whether it worked or not.

Winamp and the SHOUTcast server don't take that long to set-up, I've done it in the past and had a working radio within 30mins. (I didn't allow it access to the Internet, so I could only listen over my LAN though.)

OK, but it might take a while to download everything
Edit:
OK, I set everything up. Now how can people over the internet access my radio station?
Edit:
Yay! I got it set up:
63.25.125.52:8000
Only one person can be listening at a time and the music plays at a bitrate of 24KB, though
