My apologies if this has already been discussed. I am new and created a new account and am using the cPanelX that shows the possibility to use postgre with the databases. However, it says that the postgre server is down? Is this going to be fixed? Can I use postgreSQL with the free account?
Thank you very much for your reply and again apologies if I asked something that has already been discussed.

x10 does not offer PostGres, only mySQL (2 databases).
Apparently there is no way to remove the buttons/icons/options etc for PostGres from cPanel (a third party piece of software).

Thank you very much. Any plan to add support? If not, would it be supported if I purchased an upgrade?

x10Premium has/supports PostgreSQL, and the VPS plans will support just about anything you care to install and manage. According to the plan comparison chart, the intermediate Illuminated package (different server from the regular/Prime Free Hosting plans, costs not too very much at all, but with many more restrictions than a Premium package since it falls under Free Hosting terms of service) supports PostgreSQL - but the information on the site is sometimes slightly out of date with the reality on the ground, so I'd wait for official confirmation on that.

Just to add, I'm confirming with admins shortly to see if PostgreSQL is actually available on Premium right now - my test account seems to indicate otherwise so I want to do the required legwork to ensure it is before recommending it.

Good thing I checked; VPS is the only service that supports PostgreSQL at this time; this is only because you'd be able to install it. No other x10 service supports it at this time, and it doesn't sound like we have plans to reintroduce it at the moment.

Edit: Just wanted to update again, the incorrect info on that page has been corrected, sorry it was mixed up!

Shame, I'd really like to see Postgres back, I way prefer it to mysql.
btw, the comparison link from further up is broken. Is there somewhere new to compare the service offerings?

Hi x1091,

A comparison of free hosting, prime hosting, illuminated hosting and premium hosting is available at on this wiki article (last updated July 2013). :)

Thank you,
