in cpanel you should be able to increase the priority of the default index.php to number one and remove index.html...

it almost seems like apache is getting it from the wrong location... is there a symlink to a www folder because I beleive they have apache set to serve out of www and then symlink it to the directory that has the files...

i thought cpanel let you change the default page.... can't find it either... as far as the symlink when you look in your root ftp dir is there a www and is it exactly the same as public_html...

i know where the setting is in the apache config files but we dont have access to those

I'm having the same problem.

My site shows the Apache cPanel/WHM page even though I upload files to /public_html/

Please tell us how to fix this

NB: php and html files do not need to be chkmod755, 644 is sufficient.
