Hello all...

Would anybody be interested in starting up a game development community with me? I was thinking of using Joomla and having the following features:

  • Forums
  • Tutorials
  • Media (Models, textures etc.)
  • Screenshot gallery
  • Team requests
I have tried setting up Joomla, but for some reason the component install feature always seems to fail at installing the component properly.

We would use my site (pixeldarkarts.exofire.net) as that is why I created it. I still need to get the corporate ads working though :happysad:.

So far completed:

  • Joomla set-up
  • Forums (still need adjusting)
  • Theme
It would be great if we got this off the ground.

Cheers

/Mike

The content I was relying on being user based. But i'd like help with stuff like running the site, moderating the forums etc. Although I have a bit of experience with HTML sites, i'm no good when it comes to fixing problems with PHP. For example, when using the Joomla installer for the Fireboard extension, none of the images will appear. I have tried CHMOD (permissions) to 755, and it still won't work.

But ye, mostly the technical side of stuff.

Right then, the site will be called pixelDarkArts (just a random name that came to mind) and can be found at pixeldarkarts.exofire.net and you can now sign up. Once you have done that I can make you a forum mod and we can start deciding what kind of stuff to put on the site.

I setup fireboard on my joomla yesterday (or was it the day before?) anyways, I had the same problem with the CHMOD on the folders, where at one point it wasn't saving the changes sometimes and I had to change them several times to get them to take. Don't know why.

Also, you will need to CHMOD all of the sub-folders as well to 755 (or at least I did just to make sure I didn't miss anything).

I just found that out and i've spent like the past 30 minutes CHMODing every sub-folder. I think there's something wrong with the Joomla installer (not the Fantastico one), because i've been having the same problems with all of my themes and stuff as well.
