well all the files are just photos from trips my club has done (thats what the site is for) and its just a way for people to get hold of them, but the link you specified doesnt work, in my case it would be somthing like ftp://gccc.x10hosting.com but it didnt work, unless i also have to specify the directory folder too?
it just tells me the server is too busy or somthing like that, when nothing is actually happening

What about using one of the photo display programs that are out there? I don't remember any of the names, but I know if you go to http://www.devside.net/server/webdeveloper, under the 'Recommended addon software' link there are some gallery programs they link to.

Just a thought.

Yes you will have to specify the directory. otherwise it will be just trying to access your site.
Example would be ftp://gccc.x10hosting.com/pictures

Why not just make download links?

Code:
<A HREF="http://yourdomain.com/yourfile.zip">Click here to download Yourfile</A>

Copy and paste the HTML code above into your web page, then replace [B]"http://yourdomain.com/yourfile.zip" [/B]with all your proper information .

so i could put all the files into one ZIP folder and uploud to the server right?

im guessing it would go into the public_html folder?
so say i made a new directory folder in my public_html called "downloads" i would have to put http://mydomain.thehost.net/downloads/"ZIPname" right?
