putenv() has been disabled

hi,

im getting this error message trying to run a cms photogallery called gallery2, i've searched the forum and someone else had this problem and i think it was blocked but then unlocked...is this still the case?

Warning: putenv() has been disabled for security reasons in /home/beery/public_html/modules/core/classes/GalleryTranslator.class on line 302

This function is disabled per security reasons, you can read more about it here:
http://us.php.net/putenv

It allows users to change enviornmental variables and can be a security risk.
