1. Can the private server be canceled after say, a month? I.E I do not want a recurring payment to be going out.
2. When setting up the private server, do you need to already own your own domain?
3. Is the operating system hard to setup with the 10$ hosting?

1. There are several payment options. One of those is month to month.
2. You do not have to have a registered domain prior to setting up the VPS, but it will be useless until you do this.
3. You will have a choice of several linux based OS's which can automatically setup through your VPS Control Panel. You will have to install and setup your own server software, (Apache, MySql, Perl, etc., etc.), and the difficulty of this step depends on your prior knowledge and experience with LAMP.

VPS service at x10hosting is unmanaged and no support is offered by x10hosting unless something breaks on their end, which is very, very rare.

Bear in mind, IRC members normally help out with things if needed, hell if you need me to help give me a PM :)

Also bear in mind some of us IRC members (self inclusive) are Windows junkies, and if possible try to hit the chat during daytime hours - it gets absolutely dead overnight, and often goes from quite a few talking members to only 2 or 3. Better chance of getting help during the day :)

Edit: That's daytime in the USA; there's still folks on at midnight but it might be folks like me, who know squat about Linux XD

Guess I could have phrased my reply to OP a little better. Lot's of help is also available in this forum as well - I have received my share of help here. On the other hand, I feel it is important to make potential new VPS users aware that the service is unmanaged and the type of support that typically available with a paid hosting account is not available to VPS users.
